Hi I want to know which resolution is better? The 720P or 1080i?

Ok I have Philips 38'' HDTV/LCD & it's 768P resolution. I do know that Progressive is greater consequently the Interlace but, 1080i has MORE lines & pixels I mull over. So then my request for information is which resolution is better to watch HD cable channels & Blu-ray movies? 1080i or 720P?

Thank you!

Answers:    You own a 768 DISPLAY....

That means your picture will work BEST next to a 720P signal, since it's a 768 display.

A 1080i signal will need more downconversion and processing to grasp it to FIT your display.....

And PROCESSING adds noise/artifacts/distortion to the picture.....

UNLESS logically you are using HDMI inputs.....those don't get distorted....not as much, because it's 100% digital and at hand is no Analog to Digital processing to create distortion....only downconversion beside a 1080i signal.
But I'd still suggest 720P signa to stop the downconversion from occurring.....
1080i is better, 1080P is the highest. But most HD program and games use 720P.
