Which Is Cheaper?

I have a 36" Magnavox TV set that is at least 5yrs old. The picture tube went out of it. My friend told me to buy another TV, but my Mom said its cheaper to get it fixed. Who is right?

Answer:
Typical Walmart TVs last from 2 months to 5years. Most break after 1 year. If picture tube went out, then get a new TV. If you dont know for sure, take it to a repair shop and get it checked out.

In most cases its not the tube.
I think your mom may be right. But the best way to find out is to check it out with the repair cost and a new TV cost, and compare. I fixed my son's a whlile back for under $100. a 16 inch color panasonic.
Your mom. Is your T.V. still have warranty on it?? After 5 years it should not have lost the tube in it already. I would see if there is any warranty on it first.
It will be several hundred dollars cheaper to get it repaired. If you want one of the LCD T.V.'s that are out there than maybe you should shop ...but if you don't have the money.find a small repair guy in your area.
It's cheaper to buy a new tv.
Once something goes, that's it.
I find it that nowadays people can't really fix anything right.
Is it a flat screen TV? You can just buy another one. If its the old clunky kind, you should get it fixed cause they won't sell them anymore.
