They aren't available if it's a 15 year frail TV set....
MOST parts aren't available if it's 13 years old.....
You'll be lucky to bring back a part for it at 12 years....
If it's 10 to 11 years hoary....you should be able to catch the needed parts.....
Obviously, that determines whether or not it should be fixed...
You probably should replace it. The older it get, the harder it may be to find a place that could actually fix it. Companies commonly only stock parts for repairs on their equipment for a constrained time (10 years or so). It may already be impossible to obtain parts to fix it.
I hold a 13" TV from Montgomery Ward that I've had since roughly 1985. It still works perfectly, but probably won't be fixable if it breaks.
No mode would it be cheaper to have it repaired vs. replacing that small screen.
Here's why, first is that almost all of the components if all of the components of that TV are no longer made, and probably haven't been for some time.
You'd hold to first locate someone that could even work on it, then find someone or some place to bring back the parts to fix it. Most likely not going to be contemporary parts, with it person that out of date.
32" television today, if you don't go HDTV, can be purchased for lower than $300 from walmart even and usually any television repair center is going to charge you almost $80 freshly to look at the telelvision.
Not to mention the newer TVs are going to have different inputs for more current standards.
Just wouldn't formulate sense to get the old-fashioned one repaired.
It depends on what is wrong with it. If it's the tube, it will be more expensive than a investigational TV.

Beginning contained by February 2009, there's going to be major change in TV service contained by the US. Analog over the air TV (the frail 2-13 and UHF) will no longer be broadcast. Many cable providers will no longer provide analog cable. Depending on how you are receiving your TV presently, you may have to cjhange your TV anyway.
