Anyone know what might be wrong with my cable tv?

We got this new cable in our apartments, and the feed comes from a satellite they have at the apartments. the maintence guys looked at it and said the signal was fine to our apartment, and to try plugging the cable in to a different jack, but that hasn't worked either. please help.

Answer:
Okay lemme see if I understand this correctly. You live in an apartment. The apartment has a satellite dish to receive television signals. This television signal is run to each apartment with cable. However it sounds like you aren't able to use the signal to get television reception even though the maintenance guy came by and said the signal is OK.

So my questions to you is ... Is there a cable box you need for reception or does everyone just hook the cable up to their television set? If cable box, have you tried borrowing someone else's box? If directly connected, do you know if you have to set the television tuner to CABLE or ANTENNA? Have you tried it both ways? Also, what did you have before this?
Contact your cable company. They'll send someone out to check it.
