If you have a HDMI to VGA convertor do you lose qulity?

What are you using this for? Connecting a blu-ray to Computer monitor? I'm not sure about the specs on your setup.

VGA can still give you hd content but the signal will be analog instead of digital. The quality will be downgraded slightly but barely noticable on a quality monitor.
