Which is better: Plasma, LCD or rear projection big screens?

I hear that plasma is not good with sports, fast refresh needed?
I hear that some can wear out faster?
I hear projection TVs are huge :)
Which is the best makes and models and suggestions on which to get?

Answer:
The Sony rear projection with SXRD technology is the best I've ever seen... period. It's amazing. I strongly urge you to go see one in person. It'll blow you away.
I have a 37 inch LCD, I love it. The colors are not allways as sharp as plasma but still really good. The only issue is in movies with alot or darkness you can sometimes see dots.
Samsung PLASMA
lcd or rear projection are better.plasmas are nice but burn out quicker. i would choose lcd
They are all awsome. Play Ennie Meany Miney Moe.
Plasma will always be the best, in picture and in fast moving objects. A Quality plasma has a lifespan on 20years/60,000 hours same with LCD.

In 60,000 hours the plasma display will go half brightness, for LCD one or all of the backlights may go out.

As for DLP, the picture will never degrade over time as CRT Rear Projections will. Just simply pop a new bulb in aproxx 2 years and it will look good as new!

Remember that if the tv is a quality tv.

Stay away from Samsung,Phillips/Magnavox due to high failure rates and poor support. Same with all walmart TVs.

I HIGHLY suggest a Sony Bravia XBR LCD or the 720p version.

or Toshiba Regza Series LCD or DLP Line.

If going for plasma go with the Pioneer Elite plasma, if thats too expensive for you go with the Toshiba Plasma.
You will get alot of opinions on this issue. Plasma doesn't do to well during daylight, but has a nice picture in a dark room. LCD is the opposite. Plasma screens have the screen size advantage (the biggest Plasma available is 65" while the biggest LCD is 50"). Plasma is cheaper, but is heavier and thicker. Both will give you tens of thousands of viewing hours so no worries on them wearing out quickly. The rear-projections are nice, but also bulky if you don't have the room. If you take the plunge, you can't go wrong with the name brands: Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Pioneer.
Get an LCD. Samsung
Plasmas your best for darker viewing conditions, LCD's are designed for brighter lighting conditions. LCD's are becoming more and more popular and the technology continues to get better and better.

Personaly I prefer the Samsung LCD's. Here is were I bought mine from www.zenmonster.com
Get a Sharp LCD panel. They are the best in LCD.

Plasma is too heavy and has shorten life span.
Otherwise, brightness is relatively the same between the two.
It depends on your taste they all have pros & cons which of the cons can you live with? It will be based on with you see for yourself & not what someone else tells you. go to a circuit city or best buy & toy around with each display find out what you like or don't like & (don't listen to rumors) read some home theater magazines get some facts. It help me when i made my purchase. & last always check out the top brands & not the 2nd or 3rd rate brands. you can still get top quailty & a low price for top brand models.
