I have a Star Choice satelitte (505 HD) and own been trying to hook up the DVI output to the TV's HDMI. The picture come through fine but I can't get the nouns to work. I have tried masses combinations and had StarChoice Tech support on the string. I did connect the satellite to another HD TV with a convert from DVI and HDMI and it worked economically so the problem seems to be beside the Insignia 32". Any suggestions?
Answers: I assume you are connecting the audio from your STB using the standard red/white audio cable? Since HDMI incfludes an audio link, how does your TV know, when you're using HDMI, that the audio is coming from the red/white connectors? Unless there's some path in it's settings to make clear to it where the audio is coming from, it's going to assume the audio is on the HDMI cable. You may not know how to use HDMI. Or you may have to use a home theater set-up to catch audio.
