Which HD DVD is enough for a 852 x 480 resolution plasma TV?

My TV is a Philips 42PF7320

Answer:
First 852x480 is considered a 480p signal and not HD. HD-DVD is recorded in 1080p.

Therefore, it would be pointless for you to get an HD-DVD for your plasma TV. Images would look better with a standard DVD player that outputs 480p because scaling is not required.

Your TV is considered an EDTV because it is native 480p. I would not consider an HD-DVD or BluRay DVD player for anybody until they get a true HDTV that displays in native 720p or 1080p.
Actually you have a Samsung! Both are the worst brands out there. Once out of warranty, cant get parts or support from them.
As your television's resolution is less than the resolution output by any HD DVD player, any would be just as good as any other, but you would not see any benefit by getting one of these over a regular DVD player. Until you have a television with 1080p resolution (1920x1080), you have no reason to get an HD DVD player.
