We just inherated a big screen tv from family.. but now the screen will not converge and the "cross" that is supposed to help align the picture is bent... is there any way possiable to fix this, or are we going to have to get it repaired by a proffessional?
Answer:
Pete's right (as usual). CRT projection televisions depend on two or three high power (hybrid) integrated circuits which run at very high temperatures and are prone to failure. This is not something even the most accomplished do it yourselfer can do. Even if he were to successfully replace the IC(s), then he would be faced with the job of aligning the convergence. Impossible to do without the proper training and equipment.
I think the professional is called for here , the convergence chips seem to be a common failure !!
Cheers Pete
