If I take my UK standard TV (Analog, PAL, 5 years old) to Sweden, will it work there?
Answer:
You will need a digital box, analog broadcast tv will be shut off in all of sweden by the end of the year (it's already gone in most major population centers) They don't cost much though.
You'll also need a power adapter, Swedish power is 240 volt like the UK, but the sockets are different. You'll probably need those for other things anyway.
The usual answer to tuner troubles when moving internationally was always to buy a cheap VCR locally, run the signal in through that, and let it do the tuning. I guess these days the digital box serves the same purpose :)
I think so check out the link.
Unless you can change your TV - perhaps by going into the menu - you will not be able to use your TV to receive analogue TV pictures in Sweden. The Pal system you refer to is used in both coutries, but the difference between I and B/G is the gap between the sound and picture transmissions. Your TV will probably get the picture, but no sound.
Check to see if Sweden has their own version of Freeview - if so, get a box and try that. If not, leave the TV here - it'll be no use to you apart from watching videos and DVDs
