TH-42PA60 plasma tv from panasonic.?

Answer:
What you are looking at is an EDTV, extended definition set. You are right that the resolution of the set is only 852x480 which is NOT HD! What this set does is take the 1080 signal and down convert it to 480. If you want your PS3 games to be shown at "full graphics" you need to buy at least a 1080p HD monitor or a 1080p HDTV. Make sure the native resolution for the set is 1080.
Also, since you are using the set for gaming you should consider LCD's instead. Plasma's have a notorious reputation for screen burn in when static images are left on for long periods. LCD's do not have this problem.
Don't bother. If you want true 1080p resolution, just get a 40"+ LCD, though Mitsubishi makes a 37" with 1080p. Most plasmas won't go above 720p.
Plasma TV's are junk. Panasonic is the #1 supplier because they are the last major Electronics company selling them, everyone else abandoned this out-dated technology years ago. Give their marketing team credit for realizing the continuing market for uninformed people to buy a fancy name like "plasma" television...
here's a link on ebay where you can read reviews of them by ebay members.
