My tv doesnt work y?
Answer:
First try this: Turn out the lights in the room,it sounds funny but, try it, then turn on the TV, does it have a flash to the screen both on and off? If it does then you have a raster, the raster is the scanning the guns do to the phosphorus which is applied to the back inside lining of the CRT. If there is no flash, then the question is do you get menu Items to come up, if so , then it is time to eliminate all outside sources,VCR,DVD, CABLE box, after that is done connect a antenna to the cable connect, do you get a picture, if you do, then it is one of your outside items VCR,DVD, CABLE box, if not then how much was the TV, if its between a 19" and a 32" toss it, TVs in that range cost between 145.00-450.00. The reason is if the repair is over 150.00 then it is not worth it, if you have a warranty then use it. Most shop repairs have a min. of 65.00 an Hr. so if it takes 2 or more hrs. you have hit over the 150.00 mark, and that is not with parts. so you have to say to yourself is it worth it. I know most people don't have money to go and buy things at a whim, but sometimes it's cheaper to do so. The above item may have few approaches to repair it, so try the above. Also when you have a question like this it sometimes nice to have as much info as possible, make, model, year, what it did prior to failure, how long it did it, was there any storms, or power bumps, did you clean around the TV, etc,etc these all help someone troubleshoot. Something for everyone on this yahoo forum should remember before posing a question. Hope it helps
well call a mechanic. he will probably say the moniters broken so u will have to buy a new tv.and if it is a big plasma that hangs on the wall then..well...TH... SUCKS :[
Time for a new TV. I,m no TV repairman but it,s probably a bad picture tube. You can get a new 20 to 25 inch TV for just a few hundred dollars now if it is the older tube type at any big chain store like Walmart,K-Mart, Best Buy or any number of other large chain stores. I saw a 27 inch Sanyo TV in a flyer over the weekend for under 200$. Do a little shopping. Not likely you could get your old one repaired that cheaply and you would have a brand new TV.
hii..it sounds like one of your tubes ran a short.
that happened to my tv last year, i called a tv repair shop and they said it was around 60$ to fix.
With the information you've provided, it's difficult to narrow down an answer. You said you can't watch tapes, so you have a VCR. Change your TV to channel 3. Is there a picture? If so, your VCR is on video mode, and needs to be on TV mode. There should be a VCR/TV or TV/Video button that may correct this.
How long do you have this problem? Have you checked the antenna/cable connection, maybe it's loose or there is a problem with the network. You said you can't watch tape or play games. Is it a combo TV? You know, vcr/dvd and TV in one case... If it's not try another TV, replace your problem TV with the other TV to see if it's working, if not then there is no problem with your TV, If the other TV is working, then your problem TV is really in problem. Don't try to fix it yourself, especially with CRT, bring that to a authorized electronic repair shop. If they find the problem, compare the cost of fixing it and buy a new one. If it's not worth to fix it because it's to pricey, better buy a new one. Good luck.
If it is a regular glass front tv, then your tube is gone and you need another tv. sorry
Kick it!
SINCE YOU HAVE SOUND.your power supply is ok.
Since I can Assume your TV went from "working" to suddenly "NOT WORKING"..
Your Horiz output transistor shorted, or you have bad solder in the Horiz sweep circuit.
You might get the transistor replaced for $20 plus the labor cost, which can be $65 to $100 if you take it to the shop yourself..
Now you can make the DECISION as to what you want to do with it..Toss it or Fix it.
