Will TV have to rethink the way it approaches advertising in the near future?
Answer:
commercials are still vitally important, so much so that instead of previews at the movie theater, there are commercials. people have been worried for years about war between tv and movies. tv has been doing better though, but there was a time when movies thought they had won. i see a future though where ads are on everything. people will sell their cars like nascar already logos are on almost everyshirt and shoe. infact what is instyle today is basically anything that makes you a walking advertisement. advertisements dont just scroll the screens, they are embedded. look at the clothes the actors wear, look at what they eat and drink, look at the places and banners in the background. the whole movie is seriously a slideshow of advertisement.
Yes, I agree with your theory. Unfortunately it will mean more obvious product placement and interruptions that we do not have a choice to avoid.
Advertising is an annoying part of our existence but it is also actually really helpful.
Think of a world without ads! You'd have to spend a lot of time researching things you wanted to buy.
Anyway, yes I think TV will have to evolve because those two minute ad breaks just can't compete with the ballooning DVD and internet market. They'll have to think of something new and more effective.
