Do you need a high definition tv to get the benefits of a blue ray cd?
Answer:
Agree esp. about HDMI, and I'm pretty sure a lot of DVD players have the HDMI connection. I'd wait on Blu-Ray or HD-DVD until they're slightly higher priced than a conventional DVD.
I bought my first DVD player 8 years ago and it still works fine, just not that many bells and whistles. Discs were at a decent price, and video stores still had mostly videotapes. Funny thing is that I still rented videotapes because the more people that rented DVDs, the better the condition of the rented videotape.
Proprietary media (this includes ipods) benefits the business, not the customer. If it's popular it'll go down in price and better versions will be made. To me anything new is buggy, and I give it any expensive technology at least 2-3 years before I use it for home because once the initial wave rolls over, you'll get a lot more for your money, and you don't want to go too cheap either.
yes. a 1080p would be the best hdtv for blu ray since its also 1080p
You don't necessarily need to have a high definition TV in order to WATCH Blu-Ray Discs, but in order to have the full 1080p "Full Definition" benefits of Blu-Ray discs, you need a compatible 1080p television, and a Blu-Ray Disc player. HDMI hookups are the only way to go in this case.
The only way you will get the real HD picture is with An HD TV . Remember, don't play a Blu Ray disk on a standard DVD. Plus , you need some means of delivering the HD signal to the TV, like HD cable & HD DVD player, or HD satellite receiver.
