What technology should I use to show a movie to a group of about 50 people?

I was thinking about renting a projector because I do not own one. Then should I play the dvd on my laptop and hook it up to the projector? Or should I use a dvd player and attach it to the projector? I have a dvd player and a screen but the tv is too small. Thanks.

Answer:
Rent a projector that is more suitable for movie viewing. They are starting to cater to that market now. You don't need to settle for a computer based projector anymore. Then use your dvd player where you can take advantage of component (red, blue and green) or maybe HDMI interfaces that your player probably provides. This gives a much better picture especially through a projector that will loose a little contrast by its nature.
I suggest you use the laptop because if it doesn't work you can fix it easier on the laptop
