Which one should i get? lcd tv or plasma tv?
Answer:
i think you should get an lcd tv. plasma tvs are way to prone to burn in. with an lcd you can use it as a tv and as a computer screen.
plasma
get an lcd tv. unless you want to have a 2 thousand dollar paper weight when it burns out in a year and a half.
Both have pros and cons.
Plasma is brighter and cheaper but is prone to burn in.
LCD lasts longer but is more expensive and wont have as good black levels as a plasma.
I have a LCD projector which has been everything, but reliable. The picture is great, but the bulb has only been lasting four months. The bulbs cost $300 to replace. Some of the smaller models had their bulbs recalled and will replace your bulbs for as long as you have the TV.
Ok heres a good way of looking at it.
LCDS are more versitile. They're like massive computer monitors.
Plasmas have amazing colors. They're the true first hdtv.
Ok heres a list
LCD - Cheap, almost $1000 cheaper than plasmas of similar display reslution. The cheapest lcd 1080p i've seen it 1,800 bucks. LCD's are almost four inches flatter than plasmas. But, they often come with bad color ratios, about 1500:1. This results with not as dark blacks and not as white whites, which if your truly movie person, sucks. LCDs also have a problem with respond time. A gamer should look for 8ms respond time or less. Anything else will cause A) lag and B) ghosting.
Plasma - the first true hdtv. Still expensive. Color ratios of 10,000:1 and new tech is coming out with ratios of 100,000:1. Good for gamers - fast response times. Almost guarentee any plasma will not have any lag or ghosting because the highest respond time is seven seconds.
Price gap is still big from plasma to lcd. If they fixed the respond time with lcds, i'd go with lcds because they come with more ports and are cheaper.
Only time will tell.
O and btw, plasmas aren't prone to burn in. New tech fixed that, so almost all new plasmas come with it.
Stay cool.
