What is 1080pi?

I just bought a TV that I thought be the best on the market at 1080p. Then my friend call me and tells me that 1080p is scrap compared to 1080pi. I never even heard of 1080pi. I hear of 1080i and 1080p, but not 1080pi. Anyone want to shed some light on this?

Answers:    Ain't no such article as 1080pi. Someone's trying to sound similar to an intelligent donkey without knowing what he's conversation about.

1080i - interlaced scan. Odd scan lines contained by the first 60th of a second. Even scan lines in the subsequent 60th of a second. That makes one complete picture every 30th of a second.

1080p - progressive scan. Delay circuits don't display the first 60th of a second, solely capture it. Also capture the second 60th of a second, then combines it near the first one and displays it. One complete picture every 60th of a second. But the TV has to work twice as brisk AND it has to display the entire picture for twice as long.

Impossible for something to be displayed surrounded by progressive scan and interlaced scan at the same time.
