My NTL box has gone completely ape............the tube display just go through all the numbers continuously..........I've tried unplugging it & disappearing it a bit then when I plug within again off it go again...........yes I've also tried 'tapping' it quite vigourously too...but it dont create no difference...............any ideas?

Sounds similar to problem with your remote, perchance a button is stuck down. Try taking the batteries out of your NTL remote and see if the problem stops.

Sounds resembling a software fault, ring them and they will probably dispatch someone round to replace it, it should be free of charge if the problem is a fault beside the equipment, which it sounds like.
You tried switching sour at mains and taking the card out of the slot? Otherwise it sounds close to a call to lovely NTL support ... apposite luck!
Are you getting an input signal? It sounds like it is seeking a vessel to me. Can you borrow a box from a friend to see if theirs works on your line within?
