Do the different hd resolution formats correspond to certain screen sizes?

I always thought 1080i is only on large tv screens like 50" and up, but I just saw a nice samsung 32" lcd that supports 1080i. In order for 1080i to look its best, does your tv need to be a specific size like 50" and up? I just so confused

Answer:
basically 1080i 720p 480i and 480p have to do with how clear the pic well look on a basic hdtv 1080i is now the best pic...1080p is out there but not yet common . but there are certain hdtvs that use the different settings only not all hd sets will work with 1080i ..hope this helps a bit in this case size does not really matter on the tv that is
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wish I could answer this for you... but I can't; however, I do know a person who can.. so if you don't get the answer you need, then e-mail me & I will check on it within a week
i think the resolution defines the number of pixels present in your screen. and the screen size obvoiusly is the measurement of the screen itself. if you compare e.g. a 32" screen that has the same resolution as your 50" screen, there won't be any significant difference but the pixels in you 50" screen would be a bit bigger than the 32"..
No, resolution is not size dependent. You can have a 46" TV with 1080P, or 1080i, or 720P. You can normally even find the same manufacture, like Sony, that makes different sizes, with different resolutions. Like a Sony Bravia XBR is 1080P, while their non Bravia XBR series is only 720P. A higher resolution will greatly effect price. A lower res 40" TV might be like $1000, while its high res counterpart is around $3000. Resolution is the number of lines of pixels on the screen, true HD is at least 1080i. With this resolution, there are simply more 'dots' to form the picture, making look much more clear and sharp. Again, this is not size dependent. Just more noticeable on a big screen. You need more 'dots' to make the picture clear when it is that big (40" and up).
