Wall mounting an lcd vs plasma--much confusion?
Tweeters tells her that LCD and Plasma weigh the same and no problem mounting a 42 or 46" of either on the metal studs...who is right?? and can she do a 42 or 46" plasma or lcd wall mount on the metal studs??
Thanks
Answer:
LCD is the new technology and I advise everyone to get it insted of the old Plasma, I have bought a SONY 46" LCD tv and I love it. Make sure it is HD ready and has a HDMI port.
Go to www.crutchfield.com, and you can check the weights of LCD vs plasma, but I htink the are about the same.
Best buy is full of idiots that dont know what they are talking about thats why I record them and let the idiot manager tell me how he will resolve the situation most of the time I can get the liar fired.
That said, you may require a special mount for either TV if its weight exceeds 75lbs. I don't think so.
There are floor stands out there that support the TV and hug the wall. I like these since it gives me a way to run cables in the tube. I prefer to paint them in a matching color to the Display for seamless install.
A 42" Plasma HDTV is approx 95 lbs. A 42" LCD HDTV is approx 60 lbs. Both can be wall mounted.
This site talks about wall mounts and about a metal stud fastener kit.
