I still dont know whats the point of HD-DVD and HD Tv ??
Answers: The first post is right in the region of "over-the-air" broadcasts. Within the next 2 years, adjectives broadcasting will have to be contained by HD.
However, that has nought to do with watching DVD's (or even using a VCR if you still have one). Obviously you can do that for as long as you want. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Disc will be fighting it out for the subsequent 1-2 years before one finally take a hold of the market (I'm betting on Blu-Ray). Each have a limited inspection of movie titles right now, and they're expensive (over $30 surrounded by most places).
If you're happy next to the quality you own now, stick next to it. However, you should find someone you know that has and HDTV and is reception HD broadcasts. You will see an amazing difference over the channels you're watching immediately on your Cable/Satellite box, especially when it comes to sports.
Buying an HDTV to watch your DVD's on won't support much. They look about equal as they do on non-HDTV sets. You get an HDTV for HD broadcasts (like ESPN HD and your local channels). The other upside within buying HDTV is for size. Right now, they are dirt cheap compared to what they be just 5 years ago.
There will come a time, when adjectives channels will be HD. It may be that they will be towards the back compatible. But I wouldn't bet on it.
In 1996*, the federal government set a 10-year put a ceiling on for all TV to switch over to HD. But ultimate year, it was realised it couldn't adjectives be done in time & the cut-off date was extended. But I don't know how far it be extended.
* I heard just about the limit, 4 days after buying a 31-inch GE TV. I be not thrilled to have salaried all that money on a TV that would be made archaic. But I'm watching it just very soon & eveything's fine.
One thing not but decided is the format period of war beween HD & BlueRay.
1. Selling more to people who enjoy the money -- keeps ethnic group in consumer electronics stores employed
2. Bringing theater experience home -- keep consumers who want it happy
3. Digital TV transition which happen in the United States on February 17, 2009, the final day of analog broadcasts. While technically adjectives broadcasts will be digital only on the following daytime those broadcasts need not be HD. But the portion of the public that loves HD once they see it will want HD expertise for all their channel. You can still watch HDTV on a SDTV set and own a nice picture. But to those who fall surrounded by love with the HDTV print they will want to see only HDTV.
I do concede that all I really want is a clear picture right in a minute on all channel that I get from cable. Maybe on February 18, 2009 I will achieve my wish. But for sure it is already on nouns with adjectives free over the air digital channel which you can get near an antenna.
In addition to the comments above, you may be contented with your print, but the larger the image you enjoy the more detail you need. Currently I own 3 projection setups ranging from 145" surrounded by the bedroom to over 300" for my outdoor TV.
Without HD the picture would not be as good because of the doll size.
