LCD or Plasma over a gas fireplace insert?

Pretty much any design show on TV doing a reno on a den or family room will include a TV over a gas fireplace insert. They don't specify if they are installing LCD or plasma TV though.

I fathom out that plasma TV's run hotter, but maybe they're competent to withstand more heat. Perhaps LCD's might be better because they run cooler and and so can tolerate more heat.

Must be someone who's installed dozens of these things or have to service units that hold been installed for a couple or few years presently.

Answers:    I've installed several hundreds of these things. I would have to voice based on my experience it honestly doesn't situation one or the other.

Reasons why you would want to consider a plasma or LCD....

1.) Does the room have a bunch of automatic sunlight comming into it? If so LCD is better because it uses a backlit technolgoy meaning that its pushing table lamp through the screen so when the sun hits it you don't attain a washed out affect.

2.) If you don't see much TV in the daylight time then Plasma is better because it have better black levels than LCD. Blacks look black not grey similar to they do in LCDs.

If you in recent times want the best go beside LCD. You can get a 1080P LCD for a fraction of the cost of Plasma 108OP set. Twice the pixels put together for a very nice picture.

Here is an article on putting your tv above a fireplace.

Hope that help.
LCD's tend to be a little tougher and more resistant to warmness and wear. If you are playing any type of video game console on your TV, LCD is specifically better due to the tendency for plasma to suffer burn-in on the blind from your gaming system.
