Can someone explain in simple language plz how a television works starting from when cathode emits electrons?

All the answers so far have been vaguely correct ,but if you take an average of the lot then you will be somewhere right !!. I am fairly slow on the uptake so I had to go to night school and attend lessons for a few years but I have a fair idea now !!Cheers Pete

the cathode ray tube in the tv shoots out electrons and when they hit the pixels in the screen, they cause them to emit light, which comes out as a picture on the other side which you see
The electrons are accelerated using static electricity through several stages in an assembly called "The Gun". Then the electrons are deflected by two magnetic fields, one vertical and one horizontal so that they are scanned across all parts of the screen. The screen has a voltage of about 26kV and this accelerates the electrons even more. Then the electrons go through a mask so that red, green and blue beams only manage to illuminate the correct colors. The color comes from electrons hitting a "phosphor" which makes it glow. Finally the electrons find their way back to the high tension power supply along the interior of the tube via a collector fitted on the side.
In very simple words this is what happens.
TV transmitter. An object's light falls on the screen of the transmitter.This screen is scanned internally and the light is converted into electronic pulses by the electronic circuits and transmitted through the antenna.
TV Receiver. The above signal is received in the TV and amplified ( vertical and horizontal amplifiers) and fed to the Cathode Ray Tube. This ( CRT) is having Horizontal and vertical deflection circuits and a heater, gun and filters (Red, yellow and blue) which produce a thin ray of beam which hits the screen and produce luminescence in the particular colour. Many colour dots produce the picture. As the signal is modulated, the picture moves. Sound comes through another channel similar to radio.
