Why did congress go beyond a stupid decree that TV stations can just convey out Digital signals and not Analog?
Is at hand any one that feels that this is a completely stupid belief?
Answers: I am sure people don't want to compensate $50-$60 for a set-top box, but they can wait contained by line to buy a $400 iphone, or spend $150 for an ipod. A foreign set-top box will probably cost less than what some relations pay for cell-phone service contained by two months.

The world is going digital and it is time for the TV signal to move about digital as well. The imaginative plan was to run digital in 2007, but broadcasters be dragging their feet, so the plan be delayed twice.

Call your congressman. And ye they should, if everyone out there basically broad casted willy nilly NONE would work properly. As it stands we must SHARE the airwaves.
P.S. The NTSC is getting close to 90 years old. Digital take way smaller quantity power and in nonspecific is much better for audio and video quality.
The spectrum the bright ATSC takes up is smaller number than 1/10th the size freeing up this good earthly transmission nouns for other uses, like widespread area Internet, tenet enforcement,etc..
This will free up areas like cellular which is cluttered near law enforcement signal to start near.
Fact is the radio spectrum needs a HUGE overhaul and it a moment ago so happens that the first is TV (which is the largest section).
Ease up and embrace a touch progress.
P.P.S. just so you know Digital is easier to encrypt and consequently harder for Big Brother to hack!
