my alienware laptop has a plug on the back labeld, coaxial, but it wont fit the coaxial plug from cable tv. it has not threads on the plug, what am I supposed to put in this to get my laptop to see cable tv?

No matter what kind of connector it is, there's an adaptor connector or adaptor cable for it. You say it doesn't have threads. An "RCA" connector type is the type used on your stereo/TV audio and video cable plugs. Another type of connector is a "bayonet" type. Get the name of the connector from your manufacturer's manual or website and then order a pigtail cable adapter to go from it to a type "F" catv connector.
