Can i play blue ray dvd 1080p on my 1080i tv and get hd onit?

i do have a PS3 and 1080i tv but i dont know if a play it the give me HD or dont see on HD about the blue ray movies that have 1080p resolucion

Answer:
as I know 1080p only comes from HDMI so you can use component. it's going to work just fine.
Set your Blu-ray (or HD-DVD player) at 720p or 1080i and you will get a great HD picture.

Don't get stuck at 1080p. At small size TVs you can't probably see the difference between 1080i 720p and 1080p.

PS. A lot depends on the content as well.
