Why does a disconnected channel shows random black n white dots and no other colors??

The answer is that part of the colour processing circuitry is called the colour killer , if your CTV does not receive a little signal with the colour information called " ident " then the colour killer operates and switches the 3 chroma amps off ! this results in black and white screen whether it be a picture or just snow !!.Cheers Pete
The color output circuit is not being stimulated by a color broadcast signal. Designed only to show what it can translate. If only random frequencies could stimulate them, that would be art.
