Cabel TV vs. Satellite TV?

I need your help. What is better Cable or Satellite TV? Which is cheaper? How much do you pay for either? I need to get one or the other, would love your input. - Thanks!

Answer:
Some things to consider...

With satellite TV, you are often responsible for the purchase of the receivers required to pick up your signal. This equipment is often very costly. Once broken, you are further responsible for the repair bill for the equipment.

If you want to pick up channels on more than one tv, you have to buy additional receivers. More money.

Satellite TV companies often require contracts for a year or more. In order to get out of the contract you have to pay. Yikes.

Often you can not get your local channels through satellite TV.

So my vote is go cable.

Service calls are usually free. You pay a monthly fee and if you decide you are not using it, you can usually cancel at any time.

You get local channels.

Aside from this, usually cable companies are locally driven. If you support your local cable company, you are investing your dollars back into the community you live in.
i have virgin media (cable) i have broadband and large tv package this costs 2 for 20 pounds i added the sky movies and sky sports collection for an extra 31 pounds a month altogetyer i pay 51 pounds a month you can also get other bundles 3 for 30 4 for 40 etc for extra details go to www.virginmedia.co.uk i also ordered on line and only had to pay 5 pounds for connection instead of 20.
It depends on what you need. Do you have alot of trees around your home? If you do you might not be able to get a clear signal with Satellite. Also during bad rainy weather you sometimes might not get a signal or it might appear to be garbled. I have had Satellite tv for almost 8 years. I go thru directv. I find they have clearer picture than cable. Also i find you get more channels for the cost. I have found that Directv has good customer service. I would research your local cable company and the satellite companies... see what kind of deals they have and prices... see how it'll work for you in the long run. Good luck!
Well satellite is is cheaper in most cases then cable.

Also in Feb. 2009 Analog (Standard) Cable will be phased out and you will have to get either Satellite or Digital Cable so that is something to keep in mind too.
I have satellite but am steadily regretting it. Overall, it becomes a bit more expensive with the equipment and insurance on the dish.I would go with cable if i had to do it over again. Their packages are better and you will not get as much disruption of service in bad weather!
i find that cable tv is better because you are gauranteed a reception.
When i had direct tv when rain would come we wouldn't have tv.
depending on your reception. -- i would rather have cable. just have them come out and tell you what the prices and what your reception would be. only you can compare because only you know what you would want.

goodluck
Go with Satellite. You get so much more and it is changing every day even better. I have Dish Network and they have all the bells and whistles and are always trying to improve on that. Cost wise it is cheaper than cable for what you get. You can save on Dish programs over Direct and Cable by getting free included Movie channels that would cost $20 more as a whole on the others per month. As for rain, only hard wind blown rain deflects signals less than 1% of the time.
