Help Buying a TV!?
Answer:
I can guarentee you that not 1 product from samsung can even come close to the picture and reliability of a Sony.
As a technician for a TV Repair shop, I can guarentee you that not 1 Samsung product will last to 5 years. They are soo bad. Junk is what they are.
Sony
Toshiba
Mitsubishi
Pioneer
are the quality units.
Both LCD and Plasma have the same life span of 60,000 hours, for the plasma it will go half brightness and for the LCD one of the backlights will go out, or dim.
Now you will have a chance of reaching 60,000 IF you buy a QUALITY TV.
Samsung and Phillips/Magnavox are THE worst. And if you have one, youll find out either right after warranty or when you hit the 2 year mark.
I'm not really particular whith the number, the best thing to do is to ask the people who are selling the tv(or where your buying) themselves for full comparison.
LCD is better price wise and may actually last longer than plasma. However; plasma is better for viewing at multiple angles. I have a Samsung LCD DLP HD TV. The picture is fantastic when viewing right in front of the TV, but loses some clarity when viewed from an angle. I would recommend any of the Samsung products. Their quality is much better than Sony.
You want a 1080p HDTV no matter what.
Don't buy a projection TV - There are many reasond that these are way cheaper than LCD or Plasma.
One of your answers says that LCD is less expensive - this is NOT true. LCD is more expensive.
Most importantly, buy the TV that looks good to you. Who gives a crap what the experts say. You have to watch it, not them. I doubt that anybody that replies to your question can spot an LCD or Plasma by simply looking at the screen.
