Have around a 70" Sony flat screen (can't remember just how to measure this thing) and a month ago the light went out. It was broke and replaced. The television worked for a day and then did the same thing. Lighted up red, green, red, green, green, orange, red, green, orange, red, and then would blink red the whole time. And then the "lamp is bad" would come on. Had the tv checked, and they can't figure it out unless "they" recieve 275, just to tell us what is wrong. Crazy. So we did the mannual reset, plugged it straight in to the wall, and have taken out and replaced the lamp. Now it flashes the same but green at the end and the "bad lamp light" comes on telling us it is a bad lamp, but it is not. So, we still have no television, which has been good around the house, but not for the down times. My question is, has this happened to anyone, or do you know anyone that might know what it is or what to do. Thank you for your help.
Answer:
It sounds like the lamp "ballast" (power supply) is bad. I've never had to replace one, but I can't imagine them being more than $150.00. They are repairable, however. Go here, and find another servicer. Anyone wanting $275.00 up front is a rip off artist:
