Viewing non-HDTV channel on an HDTV set; how fruitless is it?
Answers: Some TV's a worse than others when viewing Standard Definition (SD). I have tried a few TV's in my house - an LG LCD 42LB5D looked fine, A Sharp LC-4262U looked mediocre, and a Sony XBR4 one of the top the chain and more expensive than the others and looks like crap. I would do some homework until that time going out to buy a new LCD or Plasma - Here is a pious place to start - http://www.avsforum.com/
I don't think that the standard channel picture is decreased I regard as that you are just so used to seeing the clear picture of your HD burrow and when you switch to a regular channel than you dream up that the picture is worse. When in actuality it is matching as you were used to seeing in the past. Does that make sense? Oh and remember that you own to have HD programming for the HD picture to be capable of be viewed. Good luck near your new TV!
