I enjoy this unsullied flat eyeshade tv. And can't catch my dvd player to work.?

My cheap apex dvd player will not work on the new Sony Bravia Flat Screen. I hold the 3 monster cable connecter going from video 1 on dvd to video 1 on tv. Don't know how to get it to play. On my behind the times tv I had to run the dvd player thru the vcr to capture it to work. But the vcr is 1995 model sony. I don't know what to do. The manual for the tv is fundamentally confusing. They told me at the store I could just connect my equipment to this tv.

Answers:    It should be a simple hookup. You are using the yellow plug from the video 1 output on the DVD player and connecting the other lapse to the video input on your new TV. The other two as you know are the disappeared and right audio channel connectors. On your TV remote select TV next the button marked input. You should see several choices eg HDMI, Video 1 etc.
Choose video 1 and exit inputs. Your DVD should work.
Maybe a stupid grill, but did you try changing the input source on your tv? Since using it through your VCR, you probably of late had to turn it on to work, conceivably you didn't think to silver source!
