I got a 27" sony flat screen and for some reason the picture turns green how do i fix it without hitting it?

its a 2001 model flat screen and the picture display turns completely green and purple how can i fix this and is this normal for five years of watching it?

Answer:
Green and purple eh? Well, first check and push in all your COMPONENT connections on your TV and the other end.we have seen the connector "walk out" over a few years and cause your symptom...

NEXT, if it's still going Green/Purple that indicates the Green Gun is going HI - Low..
IT MAY BE A LOOSE CONNECTION -- Whack the set, see if it goes away...if so, call a TV Tech to isolate it and repair it...it's worthwhile to have this done
If the picture is turning green then it is a sure sign the picture tube is bad.Time to start shopping for a new set.
Definitely a picture tube problem.. try going to the nearest Sony service center and see if there any chance of saving it.. but prepare yourself for bad news, picture tubes normally last for 5 years - 7 years max.. especially if you overuse it (using it for more than 10 hrs continuously even if you just do this once or twice a week is really bad.. ) and since replacing a picture tube tube is really costly, might as well but a new set.. good luck and enjoy watching!
