Besides the price, what's the difference between LCD and Plasma flat blind TV's?

I'm looking to buy one for the family; I own heard one last longer than the other, picture clarity, what's up?

Answers:    An article in the Chicago Tribune second month said that plasma is better for sports and movies, and in dark rooms. LCD is better for games, screens 42" or smaller, and surrounded by rooms with more wishy-washy.
LCD uses less power.

More LCD TVs are 1080i as compared to Plasma.

Plasma TVs weigh more and generates more roast.
Colors on plasma can be better and more vibrant.

Plasma image is 'faster' for motion, though the exotic LCDs have a thoroughly fast response rate.

In the dated days Plasma TVs colors would start to fade.. don't think explicitly an issue any more.

LCD can have desperate pixels.

I prefer LCD... as it is more important that I go and get 1080i resolution.
I know that a plasma TV can be damaged simply by pause the image for a time of year of time. The hotter pixles on the image burn up and move out a print on the screen.

I also hear that LCD is better figure quality. I remunerated about $1,000 for a 37" Westinghouse 1080p LCD TV through Best Buy and am enormously pleased with my purchase. Note that an HDMI cable is give or take a few $150 (and is essential for HD or Blue Ray viewing).
I think LCDS are better. I hold 3 of them and had a plasma. The plasma didnt look as clear to me. But thats freshly my thoughts on it.
This link will explain the differences better than I could :

I hope this help.
i second groverraj's answer... i'd suggest getting an LCD... save yourself some money and still go and get a great image...
Its worthwhile researching on the Net, alot of inhabitants will tell you different version. Generally, one is not better than the other. General rule of thumb that alot of people use is up to 42", LCD. 42" and bigger, Plasma.

The standard characteristics are.

LCD
Use less power
Sharper Images
Becoming more popular (Maybes due to aggressive marketing)
Ability to put more Pixels on the peak
Non reflective screens

Plasma
Quicker response, giving more fluid motion
More organic colours
Bigger screens
Copes next to Digital TV better
Better blacks

Downside to LCD is that the image can stutter on promptly images or camera pan. Also, screens can be fragile, so avoid use next to small kids.

Downside to Plasma is image burn contained by and reflective screens.

Dont be drawn within by alot of the myths about Plasma. Modern Plasma will not suffer from burn surrounded by like they used to, unless you intend to spend 8hrs a afternoon watching a timetable screen. Any minor symbol retention you get from static metaphors (from displaying for long periods ie, 24hr+ can be sorted by by running middle-of-the-road programming for a while. Also, Plasma DOES NOT leak gas and does not call for recharging.

Many relations quote the lifespan of TV set. You will get something like 30 000 hrs + out of modern Plasma, more from LCD. Do the math! By the time the go after everyday viewing, you will have have about 15 years out of them. Imagine what TV's will be similar to then!

Personally, I prefer Plasma, but the subsequent guy will prefer LCD. My advice is to move about to a showroom, look at both, play with the picture settings and look at assorted types of inputs, eg, normal programming and HDTV etc. Then walk with your gut on which you approaching best. The are both really good technology.

Dont wait for the argument to be settled on which one is best, it will budge on forever!
