Feeview remote control with timer?
Does anyone know of a Remote Control which will change the channel of a device at a pre-programmed time?
eg - change the Freeview box to a different channel, so that the VCR or DVD recorder can record on the Scart channel, but record different channels.
My vision was that the Remote Controller could sit opposite the Freeview box and remotely control the channel change without personal intervention.
Answer:
If you are trying to set the Freeview receiver to change channels in order to record a programme, then most Freeview boxes will allow you to do this anyway.
I've owned a Matsui, a Humax and a Sony - they could all be programmed to change channels at a preset time, in order to record onto DVD or video.
There is a possible solution to your problem, if you approach it from a different angle. If you have a single tuner Freeview box with 2 scart sockets, you can connect 1 output to your TV and the other to your VCR or DVD recorder, in both cases using a scart cable. You can then use the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) that is built into the Freeview box to select and record the programmes of your choice. It will turn the Freeview box over to the channel of your choice, one by one, recording to video or DVD, depending on your set-up.
Another option is a twin-tuner Freeview player/recorder. These have hard drives built in. This means you can record directly to the Freeview recorder, using the EPG as detailed above, while at the same time you can manually change channel to another output device, such as your DVD recorder or VCR. You could also record directly to your Freeview while watching another channel on the TV.
Hope this helps, and happy viewing!
