Is there an HDTV set that also offers the analog picture when a station or program is not in HDTV?

I have an HDTV set and an older analog set that I keep because when a particular show or station is not in HDTV, the picture is so much better on the older analog set. Is there a brand of HDTV that will switch to the analog picture when the station is not in HDTV?

Answer:
<Laughs> I love these answers..so close yet just enough OFF...

Your HDTV CAN get ANALOG stations.ANY channel WITHOUT the "-" or the "dot" is Analog..

You CANNOT down-convert the picture tubes, since that is what you're doing with the OLD TV.THE old TV was built for the OLD Signal, and looked best!

The NEW TV is built for the NEW SIGNAL, yet still recieves the OLD signal and "LINE DOUBLES" the old signal to work with the NEW TV.

That's why you see every flaw in the OLD signal..the line doubler literally "magnifies" the picture's flaws/shortcomings...

I can only suggest you keep your old TV for "old TV shows". Until they turn off the transmitters...
Yeah, i work at best buy. I cant remember the make, but Best Buy has it. ask the home theatre guy
Some HD sets will allow a pass-through of a signal rather than up-converting. You may already know this but an analog signal is broadcast at 480i (408 visible lines interlaced) as opposed to a 720p (progressive) or 1080i. An up-converted signal should look pretty good . You should check the settings on you HD set has the ability to broadcast a 480i picture. If your are making the image wider on the set when it has a 4:3 picture that could distort your image.
All HDTV sets will also recieve anolog signals. They have both tuners built in to the tv and switch back and forth automatically depending on which signal it detects.
There is no "switching" to analog TV; all HDTV sets receive analog TV the way the older sets do. The reason the picture looks better on your old TV is that it cannot display as much detail and therefore conceals defects in the analog picture. The HD set shows all the noise and fuzziness that is in the transmission. I would suggest turning down the "sharpness" control on your HDTV, because if it is set too high, it will magnify the noise and defects in the analog picture. Most people seem to set the sharpness to high--I think it gives an unnatural-looking picture, and should always be set at the low end of its range.
