Tv/vcr combo won't play dvd's when connected?

own a Tv/Dvd combo , quite few years old. when connecting a new dvd player to it (the jack in the video connection) it won't read it at all. Is the tv/vcr combo too old to reconize dvd's? or is there some sort of adapter that can be bought to make ti work?
thanks

Answer:
If you plug a Dvd player straight into a VCR combo the Macrovison will automatically kick in. The only way around this is a AV in converter that will allow to be connected to the TV antennae in in place of the combo RCA input. This will cost about $10 to $20 at Wal Mart or any electronics store.
YOu have to change the channel to AUX or LINE, sometimes there is a button on the remote for this function. This will enable you to use the Tv/VCR combo as a monitor. If you don't have the remote, try channel down till it goes past channel 2 , hopefully the Aux will be programmed in the Combo unit.
Are you sure the DVD player works with other TV sets? The TV/VCR combo has never heard of DVDs and probably never will :). All it cares about is the audio/video signals, and that's the form in which the information gets out of the DVD player (check it!). In order to make the combo display whatever lays on the DVD, one has to match the DVD player's audio and video outputs with the combo's audio and video inputs, respectively. If video signal is missing or it has not been "understood" by the combo, then sound will be muted too. Pay attention to which output/input is activated (selected) on the combo and on the DVD player. If you are absolutely sure you connected them right and the images are not good, maybe there is a region issue (video signal formats depend on the country/region they're made for).
This is usually what people with TV/VCR combos get when trying to hook a DVD to this combo. It's an RF Modulator- DVD Player Connector. Here is the link :
