Had the same problem, this was fixed bu buying an amplifier for abot £10 from argos. Although I later upgraded the arial and got about an extra 10 channels. It cost me £45 to have a new arial installed. Hope this helps.
if its a freeview box then i had the same problem,i bought a signal booster box and it works fine now,you can also buy a freeview aerial that sits on top of your tv and i think they are around £15
best to upgrade aerial and then you will get all channels
Before spending money see if your aerial is pointing in the right direction. If it's only a couple of degrees away from direct line with the transmitter you will suffer a significant signal loss.
It is a feature of digital broadcasting that a weak signal will cause picture failure (manifest sometimes as 'blocking'). Analogue signals would cause a 'gracefull' degeneration of the picture.
