Lap top to plasma tv?
Answer:
on the desktop right click and scroll down to were you see graphics options go there and output to monitor
Pre-Knowledge -
1) Is your laptop capable of dual monitor support? If so, then you could choose to extend your current screen or just make the TV your main monitor.
2) What kind of resolution does your TV support? Make sure you find a resolution supported by both your computer AND your TV. Sending your TV false signals could end badly.
Step by Step -
1) Connect the cable to the vga outputs. The cable should have two male (connector) ends. A female end is the place you insert a cable. So basically male means cable head and female means port (sort of).
2) After they are connected, turn on your laptop.
3) After logging in, right click on your desktop.
4) Go down to "Personalize". I am also running Vista on a notebook, so I'm going through this step by step as well.
5) At the bottom, there should be a link called "Display Settings". Click this.
6) If your notebook is capable of dual monitors, you can select the second monitor by clicking on the black box with the number 2 on it. Then check the box with "Extend the desktop onto this monitor..."
7) If your notebook is NOT capable of dual monitors, then select "This is my main monitor. <--- I'm not sure if this part works because I'm on a dell, and Dell has a preconfigured help for setting up an external display. Since you're on a Gateway, I'm not sure if this added bonus is available.
8) Select a resolution on your second monitor that best matches your TV for best results.
Good luck. BTW. Its amazing playing games on a huge TV, although it hurts my eyes sometimes.
