TV only displays my desktop?
Answer:
You need to set up your laptop to TV-output only, where there is no image on your laptop screen. Most laptop video cards will only allow video to be played on one screen at a time.
Also, it sounds like you might have extended desktop enabled rather than cloning. Extended desktop is where the monitor (TV in this case) acts as an extension to your screen. This means if you move your mouse to the far left or right of your screen, you should see the mouse cursor on your TV. Cloning is where what you see on the laptop is exactly what you see on the TV.
This features can be altered in Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced. There is usually a tab called "Nvidia" or "ATI" depending on your video card.
With PC and TV connected, select TV as primary monitor to view desktop and mouse pointer on TV. Then click on media player icon.
