Is it possible to use a second hand Sky plus box?

I want to get Sky plus but the fee is something like £160, so if I could get hold of a second hand box, would it be possible to watch it through that, or do you need a new one from Sky?

Answer:
the price is £99 i think. sure they were doing a promotion in a shopping centre where the box was free though. keep an eye out for them in your local shopping centre... xxx

eta. if not just give sky a ring & ask them, better than getting a second hand box & finding out you can't use it.
no a second hand one works fine
but sky are very anal when it comes to giving you a contract they gave me the third degree when i applied
If second hand would work...I think we would all get one. I think they code your card to your box so you can't use your card in a different box. I THINK
I would think it would work as long as you pay the £10 fee to use the + features (if you have Sky Movie channels or Sky Sports channels then it's free.)
Its fine. Mine is second hand, got it from a car boot sale for £30.
Just had to ring sky and pay £10 a month more.
