How do I build a simple VHF/UHF antenna?
Answer:
Indoor antennas are simple ! Out door ones are not ! Trust me ! buy yourself a ready made one from a shop !! It will save you a whole heap of buggering around sawing lengths of aluminium tubing to the correct length and bolt them onto a mast at the correct spacing and of course the rods have to be mounted the correct polarity vertical or horizontal to suit the stations you want to receive ! You will find that a VHF antenna is made with much longer rods than the UHF antenna so now we have two antennas on a mast, now do you want two down leads ? no I don't think so therefore you will need a 75ohm diplexer, that is UHF in and VHF in and only one out which goes to your TV !!. Well that describes a simple Yagi antenna ! 5 elements VHF and 10 elements UHF .. There you are then ! like I said best to go buy one ! Cheers Pete
i've used aluminum foil before, but it depends on how good of range you need. or you could buy one from radio shack.
