I wish to purchase a new digital tv will i also have to buy a digital aerial?

tv reception

Answer:
you dont have to, but if you have inbuilt freeview, you will only get all the channels with a digital aerial , so you may as well
Not if your house aerial works, mine does and its not digital !!
depend on two things, how strong is your signal in your area and what sort of condition is your current areal?
Best advice, check with your post code and try and borrow a freeview box and test your areal before you buy.
If you are in an area that can receive freeview tv then you will be well advised to buy a digital tv. We have no digital aerial, but we had a freeview box. now we have a digital tele. It is much better. we dont get the crackling and interference we had with the box.
Don't buy a new aerial until you are sure the existing one will not work. Most will.
Not necessarily, but it is advised. An aerial specifically designed to receive digital broadcasts will do a better job than an old one. That said, there are plenty of ancient aerials that pick up all the available channels. Check your old aerial first, but be aware that there's a good chance you'll need to upgrade your aerial.
See if you can borrow a Freeview box from a friend and try it out - it may work.
By the way - there is no such thing as a 'digital aerial' - you just need a good signal from a good aerial to get good analogue or digital pictures.
