Connecting my HD TV to dvd player via HDMI... Confused?

Hi
just recently bought new hd tv and soon to buy new dvd player
i no a HDMi cable is not supplied with my dvd player and need to get one but is a HDMi cable all that i will need to connect it to my TV...or will i also need to connect a scart...
so the question really is.. Do i need both a scart and HDMi or just the HDMi?

HDMI cable will carry both video and sound from your DVD player to your HDTV so no other connections are required there. However, if you were planning to route the sound to a surround sound system then you would need to connect the digital audio output from either your TV or your DVD player to your surround sound system.

The DVI connector can be used in place of HDMI but can only carry the video signal, so you would need an audio connection. It can probably be used to hook up a PC also.
Just connect the the HDMI cable to the DVD HDMI socket and then connect the other end of hdmi cable to your TV.
