Why are there no (or so very few) Hi-Def CRT tv's?
Answer:
Probably because we've been marketed to believe that flat panel TVs are synonymous with HDTV, so the only way to get HD is with DLP/plasma/LCD.
Also, it's physically difficult to produce big screen CRTs, esp ones larger than 35", on a large scale. The market for flat panel HDTVs seems to be for the 40" or larger.
CRT HDTVs are out there, just not many, with not-very-large screens.
I'd think the same rules for disposing CRT TVs apply to the flat panels, if not more so, because of the materials involved in the product that can easily foul up the environment. Think "computer."
Disposal Fees are becoming quite common with CRT TVs.But not with LCD or DLP.
Because of that situation, many manufacturers are reducing their CRT stockpiles and opting for the LCD or DLP lines.
Television CRT's for HD are no longer being manufactued. What is being sold is warehoused merchendice.
