I would like to use my HDTV to receive cable channels and as a PC monitor. Is this doable?

Answer:
if your TV has a VGA or DVI input then yes you can use it for a tv and a computer moniter
And, if it doesn't have a VGA input, and the DVI is of the wrong type, you can get a VGA to HD scaler. They're not cheap, though. Fortunately, most HD sets have at least one input that you can use for a computer.
