AV sender trouble?
Answers: Have you got a sensor on your transmittor which you place surrounded by front of the infra-red on the satellite box, DVD player you are sending the signal from ?, that needs to be surrounded by front of the sensor you send the signal from your remote if you be using it downstairs to work on your tv upstairs.
As for the crackling, you just call for to move it around till it can get a clear signal, and also depends on the aspect of the AV sender/receiver you have, my tv could receive satellite signals from downstairs when it be on one side of my room, when I moved it to the other, the signal is all fuzzy and unwatchable, but the side where on earth I don't get a picture is above my kitchen, which contains a microwave etc. which can affect a signal.
Other things that can affect the signal are if you hold a wireless router switched on in your house, or even your neighbour have one that is working rotten the same frequency, its annoying !
I agree beside Nikki C regarding the interference. If shift upstairs to watch tv I own to turn off the WiFi Router downstairs if not I can't receive a decent signal.
You should also enjoy received a signal booster when you bought your Sender Unit, try putting that in place and it should increase the reception strength.
