Based on my decades of experience, if two TVs have the same symptoms, then the problem lies elsewhere. If you're on a cable or satellite system, contact the provider and tell them what you're telling us. The chances of having two different TVs with the same symptoms are mighty remote.

I have had a similar issue with HD tv's. The issue was that the HD cables were plugged into the wrong slots on the tv. When I plugged these in in the other area everything worked grand.
The HD cables are often green, white, yellow, and red. Something like that dude. Anyhow, try plugging them in somewhere else until you get it right and you'll be free sailing.
Your HD signal strength from your cable provider may not be strong enough. We had a similar problem here. As more of our neighbors got HD TVs, our signal got worse and worse. The cable company did some work (a booster, or a new big unit in the neighborhood, something like that) and it's been fine ever since.
As the answer above states, if two TVs have the same problem, it is likely the signal, not the TVs.
Broadcast, cable or Direct TV?
You didn't mention that.
If it's broadcast and your are in the US and in an area with reflections you are getting the eqivalent of a jet plane crossing the signal on old analog TV.
The US chose to use a single boardcast signal, while Euope uses a method closer to cell phones with multiple signals.
When you are in a fringe area you get those "bricks" and can lose picture of sound completely due to lack of signal.
That could be your problem.
