My tv is not working please help.?
what could be wrong? please help
Answer:
It would be unusual for a CRT TV to lose deflection on all three CRTs Based on the symptoms, I would make the assumption that the problem is in the power supply and not for an amateur to attempt repair. the voltages in a TV can exceed 20,000 Volts .
Recommend a Power strip with a connected equipment warranty. should cost $50-$100 US once you have the TV fixed.
Faint blue and green line in Picture eh?
Sounds like you've lost the Vertical Deflection...that would make a line from the left to the right side.and banging on the cabinet indicates loose solder connections on the Vertical or the Vertical's power supply..
Look around IC 400 and 500 series.that's normally the Vertical and Horizontal sections of the TV, then look at the resistors and diodes around the High Voltage transformer too...OF COURSE WITH THE TV UNPLUGGED..
The fault is caused by bad soldered joints on the vertical chip ! very common , just needs resoldering . I have done hundreds like this, well ok then ! dozens !!Cheers Pete
