How do u choose a flat tv that has good picture is it the resolution??
Answer:
Absolutely it's the resolution..
When you go out looking for one, just ask the salemen about 1080 NATIVE RESOLUTION !
Not 720 or 768..that's 66% or 2/3 of the 1080 displays.
As for what type, well.Plasmas are the most costly things to repair, then LCD and DLP are a distant second and wayyyyyy back in 3rd place (about an hour behind) is the CRT projection.
BTW, everything BUT the CRT projection has limited horizontal resolution.only 1920 pixels on 1080P displays.
There are no pixels on CRT projection, no squares, no screen door effect..so unlimited resolution (actually it is limited by the maximum signal resolution from the TV network you're watching)

if you currently have a standard TV, any flat panel TV that is an HDTV has the potental to be way better.
TV's under 50" look for LCD HDTV 768p or 1080p.
for TV's 50" or over look for Plasma 768p.
Next, to get the best picture, you have to order HD channels from your cable or satilite company (you can also get an HDTV antenna, to get HDTV for free, but I woulden't).
Finally, you have to be watching an HD show on an HD channel with your HDTV...
To have good picture you need two thing.
First, yes you are right the TV resolution the bigger the better.
Second the source like HD-DVD, BD, HD-Broadcast.
It is useless if you have good TV with highest resolution if you don't have good source.
Go LCD, plasma breaks down after a couple of years.
